The RIGHTS project
The RIGHTS project team has designed an e-learning course to be delivered on the RIGHTS platform. The course is part of the experimentation phase of the RIGHTS project and will be followed by practical sessions. The whole experimentation is going to start in November 2012 and will last until June 2012. During the first 3 months the e-course (30 hours) will be delivered to selected teachers form secondary schools in the 7 partner countries: Bulgaria, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.

Who is the target group?
Secondary school teachers from Bulgaria, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.
What is the purpose of the course?
The RIGHTS E-course aims at providing European secondary school teachers and students with a didactic methodology based on digital storytelling as a learning tool to promote the Education for Global Citizenship (EGC) in EU secondary schools, empowering teachers to experiment with new technology and rendering teaching and learning more up-to-date and interesting while allowing them to discover new ways to approach digital education and to be more active and aware as European and "global" citizens.
What does the course offer?
This course encourages to:
• learn different approaches and meanings of Global Citizenship Education;
• understand the Digital Storytelling approach in GCE;
• be aware of new teaching and learning methods that help engaging students;
• build own digital stories.
How is the course delivered?
The course is delivered through an e-learning platform featuring different communication tools and theoretical and practical tasks. After attending the e-course teachers will experiment the new approach in class producing digital stories with their students.
All course material will be delivered in English, however participants can communicate in their native language with a national tutor. Teacher might have the opportunity to work with other teachers from different European countries.
Prerequisite for attending the course
In order to participate in the RIGHTS course, applicants must:
- be a secondary school teachers in Bulgaria, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey
- have an intermediate knowledge of English language
- have access to a computer and internet connection
The RIGHTS project partners will select around 10 teachers for each country who can participate in the course.
How to apply
Secondary school teachers who are interested in taking part in the e-course are invited to submit their application.

The CREATE, ACT, CHANGE: 5th International Digital Storytelling Conference and Exhibition will be hosted by Hacettepe University, Faculty of Communication, in Ankara, Turkey in May, 2013. The conference themes will include but not be limited to: Gender, Identity, Activism, Inclusion, Participation, Democracy, Community building, Intercultural encounters, Belief stories, Sustainability, Resilience, Health, Heritage, Voice, Social media and Online DST workshops. The conference will host various events in its structure for inclusion of more voices.
